These tours feature Spanish language study and trips to Mayan and Spanish colonial sites in Guatemala. Weekdays, Monday through Friday, you will study Spanish 4 hours daily in Panajachel at Lake Atitlan. Panajachel is an international community replete with all traveler conveniences and is the gateway to indigenous communities of the lake less touched by World culture. Your weekdays will include walking tours and still leave ample time to relax and explore the natural and cultural beauty of the Lake. The program also includes trips to Antigua, the classic Spanish colonial city of Central America, to the ancient Mayan city of Tikal, to the famed open artisan market of Chichicastenango, and to the national capitol of Guatemala City. Language instruction is self-paced and employs the immersion technique. You will have your own personal native instructor. Your study program will be individually tailored to your own interests and capabilities. On request, certificates of completion can be provided which detail your record of study. These can be forwarded directly to employers or educational institutions for academic, employer, or professional credit. All of the following options include lodging on arrival and departure nights, transportation between Guatemala City and study site, and a package of weekday and weekend guided tours. Lodging on two in-country overnight tours is also included. Your lodging in Panajachel at Lake Atitlan is priced separately and is negotiable depending on your budget and comfort needs. Options are homestay with a Guatemala family with all meals for $75 per week or upscale Bed & Breakfast lodging for $85 per week, double occupancy (add $25 per week for single occupancy). The latter option includes use of exercise room, hot tub, and sauna.
